RETREATS
Chapter Retreat: Before recruitment, the entire chapter heads up to the mountains for a night. With team building activities, staying in cabins together, and campfires with the entire chapter, this retreat ties the chapter much closer. In fact, Delta Gamma is the only sorority at the University of Colorado which hosts chapter retreats outside of Boulder.
New Member: Merely a week after bid day comes our new member retreat where our newest DGs are sent to the mountains, this year in Estes Park. This allows girls to meet and build new friendships with their sisters. Similar to the all member retreat, they participate in group activities, hikes, and other team building exercises.
RECRUITMENT
Work Week: About a week before classes begin, girls come back to Boulder to participate in a week of recruitment practice. Practicing new cheers, learning more in depth about our philanthropy, and participating in fun activities that bring the chapter as a whole closer, work week is surely a highlight of the year.
Primary Recruitment: During primary recruitment, potential new members come through each house on the CU campus to learn about each sisterhood to eventually find their new home. Each day has an exciting theme, such as sisterhood day, house tours, and philanthropy day. We love showcasing what we love about Delta Gamma during recruitment and are always counting down the days. The week comes to an end with the best day of the year, Bid Day! This is when all of the new members open their bids and come running to the DG house to celebrate finding their new home.
FORMALS
Fall: Fall Formal of 2017 was held at Boulder Theater. Each woman of Delta Gamma brings a date, attends a bus to the venue, and dances the night away! Formals are the last social event of each semester, a perfect way to end before summer or winter break.
Spring: Spring Formal of 2018 was held at Riverside Event Center. This is a half indoor, half outdoor venue which allowed a unique experience which we were lucky to attend!
PHILANTHROPIC EVENTS
Anchor Slam: This past fall of 2018, our Anchor Games theme was Anchor Slam: a basketball tournament with teams comprised of various panhellenic participants. Each team was comprised of 8-10 fraternity men who were coached by two of our Delta Gamma members. Anchor Slam 2018 was extremely successful, raising over $14,000 for our foundation: Service for Sight.
Pizza and Puppies: This past Spring, Delta Gamma hosted Pizza and Puppies to raise money for Boulder Guide Dogs as well as Service for Sight. Several guide dogs were brought into our house and we gave students the opportunity to meet these service dogs and their trainers. This gave those who donated a chance to learn more about service dogs and their important role in people lives while also getting free pizza! Pizza and Puppies this spring was very successful and was able to raise almost $9,000 for Boulder Guide Dogs and Service for Sight.
